Gold in goldpanThis is where the purpose of this e-magazine comes into focus. Aside from money to set-up to extract this free wealth from the ground, one has to know exactly where to dig, how deep, how far.

This is, unfortunately, the risky side of the business. Because it is a gamble, developing a mineral find, turning a prospect into a mine, is the most difficult to finance.

Historically the business has been fraught with fraud, in some unbelievable schemes. And, as a recent scam involving false assays, showed, the size of the company isn't a determining factor. It even could be said that smaller organizations have less room to hide embarrassing failures.

That stated, the question is why even consider being part of the process of creating gold? The answer is that historically there also have been a number of fortunes made turning a prospect into a property. For one, did you know that the foundation of the Hearst empire was built on 5 percent of the Homestake Mine of lead, in South Dakota?

As my father, who was considered in his day to be the Wests leading mining lawyer, used to say, there are two ways to become wealthy overnight. One seems to be playing rock music. The other is to play with rocks
