IS THIS A GRAB, OR "GAB" SAMPLE?

Soil & Stream Sediment Sampling

These are strictly pathfinder methods used to determine the presence of possible mineralization across a large study area. Bags of ore properly labeled for sampleSmall samples are usually collected along a grid, and the results plotted upon a map to show areas, or anomalous concentrations of mineralization.

Analysis is usually done by multi-element spectrometer or measurement is made by atomic absorption. The results are published in parts per million, or billion. These samples are a tremendous help when prospecting for minerals, but little use in determining tonnage.

The Bottom Line

If presented with a sample report that is only numbers, ask when, where, why, who, and how they were collected.
